Sesame Bagel with Heirloom Tomato

Crispy, toasted sesame bagel with dollop of cheese cream and thick slice of heirloom tomato, fennel green and salt. Heaven.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 sesame bagels, halved and toasted
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 large heirloom tomato, thinly sliced
  • Handful of fresh fennel greens, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional: cracked black pepper for added flavor

INSTRUCTIONS:

 
  1. Slice the sesame bagels in half and toast them in the oven until they are golden brown and crispy. 
  2. Once the bagels are toasted, spread about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese evenly over the cut side of each bagel half.
  3. Place a few slices of heirloom tomato on top of the cream cheese layer. The ripe, juicy tomatoes will add a burst of flavor to the bagel
  4. Sprinkle a handful of fresh, chopped fennel greens over the tomato slices. Fennel greens have a mild, slightly sweet flavor that complements the richness of the cream cheese and the acidity of the tomatoes.
  5. Lightly sprinkle salt over the top of the fennel greens.
  6. If desired, add a pinch of cracked black pepper for an extra kick of flavor.
