INGREDIENTS:
- 2 sesame bagels, halved and toasted
- 4 tablespoons cream cheese
- 1 large heirloom tomato, thinly sliced
- Handful of fresh fennel greens, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Optional: cracked black pepper for added flavor
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Slice the sesame bagels in half and toast them in the oven until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once the bagels are toasted, spread about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese evenly over the cut side of each bagel half.
- Place a few slices of heirloom tomato on top of the cream cheese layer. The ripe, juicy tomatoes will add a burst of flavor to the bagel
- Sprinkle a handful of fresh, chopped fennel greens over the tomato slices. Fennel greens have a mild, slightly sweet flavor that complements the richness of the cream cheese and the acidity of the tomatoes.
- Lightly sprinkle salt over the top of the fennel greens.
- If desired, add a pinch of cracked black pepper for an extra kick of flavor.
